Exotic Holidays

Hevosenkenka, Helsinki

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

The Hevosenkenka is an old theatre based a bus ride from the centre of the city. It has a puppet show stage as well as a live stage and the shows tend to be aimed at children aged between two and twelve years old. The shows are normally in Finnish although some are in Swedish and it is possible to order a show in English. There is a display of some of the puppets used in old shows to look at as well as the actual performance to watch but it is best to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Wonders of Paradise the Cayman Islands

Barbados, Hawaii?

Where exactly would your most exotic vision of paradise be?
For me although some would not say it is exotic the Cayman Islands would be one place that I would like to visit with the beautiful beaches and stable warm climate throughout the year it would be somewhere you can relax and be able to live in a comfortable climate. The seven mile beach is one of Cayman Islands most popular attractions which despite its name is a 5.5 mile beach and is one of the most developed areas in Grand Cayman. The Cayman Islands also has a very large financial centre and is the fifth largest banking centre in the world at the time of writing with $1.5 trillion in banking liabilities and 279 banks!

Art Gallery, Warsaw

Monday, June 14th, 2010

The art gallery in Warsaw is situated near the old town. It is a bright and airy building and has works by Polish artists,. It has things by well known and less well known artists so there is a good range on display consisting mainly of painting with a  few sculptures. The works are for sale and the prices can be quite cheap and so if you want to take something pretty home or fancy investing in art which may increase in value then this could be a place well worth visiting, even if it is just to admire the work and have a break in a peaceful location for a while.

Augarten, Vienna

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

The Augarten is a park which was used by the royal family as a hunting ground and then opened to the public in 1775. There was a palace built there and this now houses a museum as well as other buildings. There are also other buildings in the park including a large monument and an anti-aircraft tower. There is an open air cinema in the gardens as well which is very popular as well as a recreation area to play games and green areas to relax. A great place where tourists and locals mix when the sun starts to shine.
